The KED® PECTOR ME-1 is one of the most comfortable and, above all, safest mountain bike helmets on the market. The helmet complies with the NTA 8776 standard for S-Pedelecs and e-bikes and is able to absorb significantly more impact energy than conventional bicycle helmets.
Daniel Bürgin, the best-placed German at the 24-hour Mountain Bike World Championship in 2022, has a comprehensive experience report about the KED® on his website PECTOR ME-1 Enduro helmet published and this blog post is about this report. Daniel Bürgin – wait? Those in the know may now be thinking: what does Daniel Bürgin want with an enduro helmet? Daniel Bürgin is considered an “ultracyclist” and has been an advocate for helmets for years KED® Rayzor forfeited. But who says that a real two-wheel fan should limit themselves to one discipline? Daniel Bürgin puts it this way in the introduction to his experience report:
“I love every facet of cycling – ultracycling, racing bikes, short-distance marathons, and gravel will soon be added.”
This is with us KED Of course, exactly the same and we are therefore even more pleased to see some reading samples from his very detailed report in this blog post PECTOR ME-1 To be allowed to quote – with the kind permission of Daniel himself, of course.

What we have to read about Daniel was difficult for us to digest at first! The PECTOR ME-1 Wasn't Daniel's first choice when it came to enduro helmets - at least not right away. Because Daniel Bürgin first had negative experiences with another manufacturer's model before ours PECTOR ME-1 was ultimately able to convince him. In the end everything will be fine again!
Daniel Bürgin bought his first enduro bike in 2019. Since there were no competitions in his favorite discipline at the time due to the pandemic, he used the time to immerse himself in the genre of enduro riders and that also meant himself "to venture into new material territory... suspension travel beyond 100mm, protectors, helmets, etc.".
But just read for yourself: Daniel Bürgin looking for the right helmet...
"Why choose the PECTOR ME-1 fell is quickly explained. On the one hand, this helmet (like my previous helmet) has that MIPS Safety system that can better absorb rotational forces in the event of a fall. On the other hand, fulfilled
With this helmet, KED® meets the NTA 8776 standard, an even higher safety standard for helmets for S-Pedelecs and e-bikes. I don't ride an S-Pedelec or an e-bike, but since I flew through the windshield of a VW Polo in the summer of 2021, the topic of safety has become even more important to me. Even if there is probably less car traffic on my enduro trails. Knowing you are protected by the highest standards of safety gives me and my spouse peace of mind when I'm out on the trails."
Safety is of course always the focus at KED® and that is why we attach great importance to the highest safety and quality standards. But of course the appearance and wearing comfort should not be neglected and the KED® was also able to do this in these disciplines PECTOR ME-1 Convince Daniel Bürgin. In the further course of his report, Daniel describes which decor he chose and then goes into the extremely important topic of wearing comfort. First in relation to the competing product and then in relation to the KED® PECTOR ME-1:
"Much more important than the appearance, however, was the wearing comfort. Because here we are already at the first problem with the previous helmet. Despite a number of adjustment options for the clamping at the back of the head, the clamping brackets caused headaches after a very short time. Even though the height of the clamping at the back of the head was individually adjustable and the clamping force was finely adjustable using a twist lock, I was plagued by headaches on every enduro tour. I stopped several times on the tour to change the setting on my helmet. Virtually without success. The fact that I Then I got pressure points from my cycling glasses because there wasn't enough space between the helmet shell and the head, which then turned out to be a death sentence for this helmet." …
… "the PECTOR ME-1 I was immediately impressed by its comfort. The headaches, caused by pressure points on the back of the head and the temples of the cycling glasses, have never recurred to date. With MIPS and NTA 8776, the safety technology is up to date, which also provides a good feeling. The good accessibility of the screw cap is impressive, the adjustment range and the grid of the visor still offer room for detailed improvements. I'll let you know later in the season how the helmet performs in warmer temperatures. But if you want to buy a new helmet for the season, you should PECTOR ME-1 definitely include in your choice. With its five available colors, there is sure to be something that suits everyone visually." …
