Measure Your Head and Pick a Size
Place a tape measure just two finger-widths above your eyebrows, where your head is widest, and take it once all the way round. Compare the result in centimetres with the helmet sizes. A video in the KED size guide shows you how to measure.
Each model has its own size ranges, and they often overlap. The Spiri II Trend, for example, comes in 52-58 cm (M) and 55-61 cm (L). At 56 cm, both sizes fit you. The size guide says you can go up to 1 cm larger for a comfortable fit, since every helmet has an adjustment system.
Got a large head? Take a look at the Crom. Size XL goes up to 65 cm, with M covering 52-58 cm and L 57-62 cm. In XL the Crom uses the QUICKSAFE adjustment system with a reflector, while M and L come with the integrated rear light. The Pedalon runs small. If you fall between two sizes, KED recommends the next size up for this model (S 53-56 cm, M 56-59 cm, L 59-63 cm).
To check the fit, put the helmet on level and tighten the adjustment system. It should stay put when you shake your head and press nowhere.
Find the Right Helmet for Your Ride
In city traffic a rear light helps others see you. The Spiri II Trend and the Citro have an LED rear light built into the K-FIT system, and the Spiri II Trend also comes with a removable visor. You can find every everyday model among the city helmets for men.
If you ride an e-bike or S-pedelec, look for the NTA 8776 standard. The Mitro UE models and the Pedalon are certified to it and have a fixed integrated visor. For e-MTB rides there is the Pector ME-1, which also has NTA 8776 and Mips. For more choice, browse the e-bike helmets for men.
On the trail your head needs plenty of airflow. The Crom has 23 ventilation openings. On the Embrace MU-1 you can set the visor to three heights or take it off completely. More off-road models are waiting in the MTB helmets for men.
For road and gravel riding there is the Rayzon with 17 ventilation openings, plus the Reach models. The Reach AR-1 and Reach DT-1 have Mips and a rubberised glasses holder that keeps your sports glasses in place. See the full range in the road bike helmets.
Compare the Features
Mips is a safety system inside the helmet that can help reduce rotational forces in a fall. In this collection the Reach models, the Mitro UE models and the Pector ME-1 have it. The Pedalon uses 4TEX rotation protection technology instead. All helmets with Mips are listed under Mips bicycle helmets.
You adjust the K-FIT system with a dial. The Spiri II Trend and the Rayzon add K-FLEX side adjustment. The Mitro UE models rely on the BOA Fit System, and their FIDLOCK magnetic buckle makes closing the strap easy.
If you wear glasses, try the helmet and glasses on together. There is a dedicated selection of bicycle helmets for glasses wearers.
